SIG 1-to-1

Mission Statement

One-to-OneSIG works to advance the thoughtful proliferation of one-to-one technology in K-16 education. Through outreach and services, it serves to advance ISTE’s mission by developing and disseminating resources available to researchers, developers, and practitioners committed to improving teaching and learning through the implementation of one-to-one technology.

Goals and Objectives

Goal: The goal of SIG 1-to-1 is to enhance teaching and learning in one-to-one environments in K-16 classrooms.

Objectives: SIG 1:1 will achieve its goal through the following objectives:

1. Collect and disseminate information on one-to-one implementations in the K–16 classroom
2. Sponsor outreach activities at conferences
3. Provide this wiki and a social network http://sig1to1.ning.com for the exchange of ideas
4. Assist in the development of one-to-one activities and products (e.g., one-to-one toolkits, training videos, websites)
5. Support one-to-one programs through mentoring activities
6. Collaborate with other individuals and organizations with similar goals



SIG 1-to-1’s activities are specifically aimed at:
• Invite interested participants to attend “Birds of a Feather” sessions at NECC
• Email information to existing one-to-one districts and independent schools to be distributed (database of current implementations exists from previous conferences and Symposia)
• Conduct annual SIG meetings each year at NECC
• Maintaining a listserv of interested participants
• Post information and resources on ISTE’s website
• Host conference calls or web seminars to provide for ongoing professional development
• Provide mentors for districts just beginning new implementations
• Cosponsor or host special One-to-one events or projects, such as the "Day in the Life of a One-to-One Learning Environment," with an invitation to join as a member on the "front page" for people viewing the project or information about the event.
